Are you struggling to get out of bed and train? Maybe you need some extra motivation!
Whenever we’re feeling like we’re lacking the go-get-em spirit we sign up for a charity event that requires us to get active and be in shape. It’s a great way to motivate yourself and make changes to other people’s lives at the same time!
The five key benefits of participating in charity fitness events
- It gets you out of bed and looking after your body.
- It commits you to the event you’ve already signed up to participate in.
- You get to meet new people and enjoy something out of the ordinary.
- You are able to support some really amazing charities and most importantly;
- It is about something much bigger than just you, which is really inspiring and motivating.
Brisbane fitness events:
Here are a few of our favourite events in Brisbane and the surrounding areas to get you started.
The bloody long walk / Sandgate To Southbank / 18th Of June 2023
Go at it with friends or by yourself. The Bloody Long Walk is an event that requires you to walk (or run) 35km. This event supports the fight against mito (mitochondrial disease). Mito is a terminal and debilitating genetic disorder that can cause the devastating death of multiple people in the one family. Walk or run, and fundraise to help find a cure for Mito!
Triathlon Pink & Fun Run Pink Chandler / 29th of October 2023
You would be right in thinking that this Pink event supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation and women’s health. The event provides a huge variety of courses for all fitness levels, plus you can chose from the triathlons or the fun run.
Brisbane Marathon Festival / Brisbane CBD / 2nd of June 2024
The event supports both The Kids’ Cancer Project and Legacy. It’s open to any fitness level, so no excuses! Choose from 1km, 5km, 10km, 21km or an incredible 42km.
True Grit Mount Tambourine / 9th and 10th of July 2022
True Grit is a military-style obstacle course created by two massive legends, Adam and Matt. Both co-founders served in the Australian Army together and spent a combined 20 years in the Special Forces. Safe to say, these guys know their stuff when it comes to creating 12km courses with roughly 30 obstacles. They also know the importance of charities like Commando Trust and Legacy, that support injured soldiers, soldiers transitioning back to civilian life and the families of those killed during service.
And last but not least, how could we forget….
The Bridge to Brisbane Brisbane / 15th of October 2023
All funds go to The Courier-Mail Children’s Fund and provide financial support to charitable organisations throughout Australia, so that they can assist children with special needs. Choose either the 5km or 10km event. This is arguably the biggest ‘fun run’ style event in Queensland, so you don’t want to miss out. Plus they offer free breakfast – bonus!
